I'll give him the benefit of the doubt

and say he is a liar but his response does cause concerns because he seems to forget what he was lying about just 20 seconds prior.

Here’s what it reminds me of:

Last Fall I had my yearly physical

The doctor said to me at the start “ Gate, table, truck..remember these three words for later”

10 minutes into my check-up he abruptly asked me...”By the way, what were those three words I asked you to remember?”

What was the purpose of that?
